ناصر کاظمی 8 دسمبر 1925ء کو انبالہ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ 1947ء کے فسادات اور ہجرت کے بعد وہ لاہور آ بسے۔ ناصر نے میر تقی میر کی دھیمی سادگی اور اداسی کو جدید دور کے مسائل اور ہجرت کے کرب کے ساتھ ہم آہنگ کیا۔ ان کے مجموعوں 'برگِ نے'، 'دیوان' اور 'پہلی بارش' نے جدید اردو غزل کا چہرہ بدل دیا۔ ان کا شعر 'دل میں اک لہر سی اٹھی ہے ابھی / کوئی تازہ ہوا چلی ہے ابھی' ہر دور میں دلوں کی دھڑکن بنا رہا۔ 2 مارچ 1972ء کو لاہور میں وفات پائی۔

Nasir Kazmi was born in Ambala, British India, and migrated to Lahore after the partition in 1947. Influenced by the melancholy cadence of Mir Taqi Mir, Kazmi rejected loud polemics in favor of intimate, contemplative, short-meter ghazals that conveyed the profound spiritual and psychological dislocation of migration. His landmark collections 'Barg-e-Nai' (1952) and 'Deewan' established him as a master of nocturnal imagery, rain, solitude, and nostalgic remembrance.
