فیض احمد فیض 13 فروری 1911ء کو سیالکوٹ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ انہوں نے عربی اور انگریزی ادب میں ایم اے کیا۔ فیض ترقی پسند مصنفین کی تحریک کے بانی رہنماؤں میں سے تھے۔ انہوں نے روایتی اردو غزل کے رومانوی استعاروں (محبوب، رقیب، قید، صیاد) کو سیاسی جبر اور طبقاتی کشمکش کی ترجمانی کے لیے استعمال کیا۔ ان کی نظمیں 'مجھ سے پہلی سی محبت مری محبوب نہ مانگ' اور 'ہم دیکھیں گے' جبر کے خلاف امید اور عوامی مزاحمت کا دائمی نغمہ بن گئیں۔ انہوں نے راولپنڈی سازش کیس میں قید کی صعوبتیں جھیلیں لیکن ان کا قلم ہمیشہ سر بلند رہا۔ 20 نومبر 1984ء کو لاہور میں رحلت فرمائی۔
